Although LED Bulbs are a newer product, there is a misconception that they are brighter than HID. They are an upgrade to the factory halogen bulbs making them brighter and whiter however test have shown HID to still perform better. The downside to HID is they require more parts and installation time which makes them cost more and have more products to troubleshoot if there is a failure. The downside to LED is there are many bad brands out there that have not found a way to dissipate the heat these bulbs generate causing them to fail prematurely.

From Morimoto to GTR Lighting to Philips there is a bevy of companies out there right now trying to find the next frontier of successful LED automotive lighting. We’ve been impressed by each of the brands we carry and many of us here run one or more of these companies’ products in our own vehicles. Here’s a brief overview of each of these incredible companies’ offerings.

Projector headlights are similar to reflectors in that they both have a bulb that shines in a reflector bowl except that projectors pass the light through a lens before hitting the front of the vehicle. Reflector headlights do not have a lens. The lens, known as a condenser lens, is used to focus the light.  Reflector headlights can have darker spots. Xenon HID bulbs can only be used with projector headlights. HID bulbs are too bright when used in reflector headlights, where the light they emit can blind other drivers.

We can upgrade the bulbs as long as your vehicle either has projectors or reflectors designed with a cutoff. If your vehicle does not have this and just has reflector lamps we cannot install upgraded bulbs without blinding others on the road. Your vehicle will require a projector retrofit for upgraded lighting performance.

Switchback refers to white LED's blinking amber and then switching back to white. Sequential Switchback is a feature that blinks amber in a sequential pattern from one side to the other. 

A Halo/Angel Eye is a group of LED's in the shape of a ring that sits on top of the projector shroud. Demon Eyes are LED's placed inside the projector that fill the inside of the projector lens and give it a colored appearance.

Now they can be upgraded to a bright white LED bulb but also have a multicolor Demon/Devil eye built in to change colors. This is perfect for those who are on a budget but want to see better while also having something fun for off road use.

RGB is an LED chip that allows the three colors red, green, and blue to make any color on the spectrum. When trying to produce white, combining all three colors gives off a cool white appearance. The RGBW and RGBWA LED chips have an extra white LED that give off a pure white color. The RGBWA has an amber LED that can be used as a turn signal. 

These sequencer modules can control large arrays of LEDs and provide full control for running lights, sequential turn signals, brake signals, startup/shutdown animation, and show mode animation! 28 channels to control! Supports multiple show modes or multiple turn signals!

BlueGhozt is our smartphone-controlled LED controller. It interfaces with iOS and Android devices via Bluetooth and is designed to work with WS2812b and SK6812 (Neoprism/Neopixel) RGB addressable LEDs.
